Instructions

Prepare the Pork Filling

  1. 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, sliced green onions, grated garlic, and grated ginger.
  2. 2 Add soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, chili crisp, rice vinegar, and white pepper (or black pepper).
  3. 3 Mix all ingredients together thoroughly with your hands until well combined.
  4. 4 Set the filling aside.

Assemble the Dumpling Lasagna

  1. 1 Grab a baking dish or individual ramekins.
  2. 2 Dip the square wonton wrappers one by one quickly into a small bowl of water.
  3. 3 Layer the wet wonton wrappers into the bottom of the baking dish, overlapping them as needed.
  4. 4 Spread a thin layer of the pork mixture on top of the wonton wrappers.
  5. 5 Add another layer of dipped wonton wrappers on top of the pork mixture.
  6. 6 Repeat layering the pork mixture and wonton wrappers until you run out of space or ingredients, aiming for at least two layers of each.
  7. 7 Finish with a final layer of wonton wrappers on top.

Steam the Dumpling Lasagna

  1. 1 Carefully pour 1-2 tablespoons of chicken broth or water over the top layer of wrappers to keep them moist.
  2. 2 Place the baking dish into a steamer setup (e.g., a large pan with a rack and simmering water).
  3. 3 Cover the steamer with a lid to trap the steam.
  4. 4 Steam for approximately 25 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through and the wrappers are tender.

Finish and Serve

  1. 1 Carefully remove the baking dish from the steamer.
  2. 2 Drizzle with extra soy sauce and chili crisp over the top.
  3. 3 Garnish generously with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  4. 4 Serve immediately.

Chef's Notes & Tips

  • If white pepper is unavailable, black pepper can be used as a substitute.
  • The video does not explicitly show baking, but it is sometimes a step for similar dishes. This recipe follows the steaming method shown in the video.
  • Do not soak wonton wrappers for too long, just a quick dip is sufficient.
