Plans, Billing, and Managing Your Subscription

Last Updated: March 12, 2026

CookEase has two plans: Free and CookEase Pro. This article explains what separates them and, more importantly, where to go when you want to change or cancel.

What the free plan includes

The free plan is not a trial or a stripped-down preview. You get the whole app: importing recipes, organizing them into cookbooks, building grocery lists, sending a list to Instacart, sharing recipes, and cooking hands-free.

What free limits is how often per day you can use the actions that rely on our AI, because each one costs real money to run. Importing a recipe, generating one from scratch, and talking to the cooking assistant all count toward a daily limit.

Everyday use is never limited: reading a recipe you already saved, editing it, cooking it step by step, and building shopping lists are always free to use. Two other actions do have daily limits of their own, because each one costs us money too: sending a shopping list to Instacart, and saving a copy of a recipe someone shared with you.

What Pro adds

Pro does two things:

  • Much higher daily limits on every action that uses AI. If you regularly import several recipes in a sitting, or cook with the voice assistant often, this is the difference you will feel.
  • Full nutrition detail on recipes rather than a partial view.

Pro does not hide whole features behind a wall. A free user and a Pro user see the same app.

The exact limits are adjusted from time to time, so rather than memorizing numbers, check your remaining usage in the app, where the current day's count is shown directly.

Where your subscription lives

This is the part that trips people up, so it is worth being precise. CookEase bills through two entirely separate systems, depending on where you signed up:

  • Subscribed on the web: billing runs through Stripe.
  • Subscribed on iPhone: billing runs through Apple's App Store.

Your Pro status is shared either way. It is attached to your CookEase account, not to a device, so subscribing on your phone unlocks Pro on the web and the other way round. Just sign in with the same account.

Changing or cancelling

You must cancel in the same place you subscribed. Cancelling one does not cancel the other.

If you subscribed on the web:

  1. Open Account, then Billing.
  2. Choose the option to manage your subscription. This opens the Stripe billing portal.
  3. From there you can update your payment card, download invoices, or cancel.

If you subscribed on iPhone: open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, and select CookEase. Apple owns that billing relationship, so cancellation has to happen there. CookEase cannot cancel an App Store subscription on your behalf, and neither can our support team.

After you cancel

Nothing is deleted. Your recipes, cookbooks, and grocery lists are untouched, and you keep full access to them. You simply return to the free plan's daily limits at the end of the period you already paid for.
